In a flat no window has been made at the door. What can be done?

No problem. As taught in interior vastu, make one symbolically, and if that is not possible, make a figure (picture) of it.

The main door has a single shutter and a double shutter is not possible. What should be done?

Correct it with a painting, door power, door decoration (door sajja) or a door bandhan hung outside. Where the door has one shutter, keep a bandhanwar always hung on it and the dosh is not counted.

Mirrors should not touch the floor and should be fixed two feet above it. Does this apply to house mirrors too?

Yes, whether the mirror is in the house, the temple or anywhere else.

Is the peephole (door eye) in the main door a dosh?

No. It is part of the door system and is sealed with a lens or glass, so it is not a chhidra yukt dwar. Only a hole passing right through the door makes a chhidra yukt (holed) door.

What is the effect of a door that opens outward?

Any door opening outward slowly drains the energy of the house, that is its money, wealth and other good things.

Must the house be at 0 degrees for a sarvatobhadra dwar?

By definition it is at 0 degrees with doors in all four directions, but it can be made otherwise too: build the doors on whichever pads fall on Pushpdant, Grihakshat, Bhallat and E4.

Can mirror films be used instead of mirrors?

No. The darpan is considered auspicious and is used even in pooja; do not replace it with plastic films.

Should window shutters open outward or inward?

Outward. The door brings energy into the house, while the window is there to throw out the negativity created inside, so its shutters should open outward.

Many main doors have a mesh door opening outward and a wooden door opening inward. Is that fine?

Yes, it is fine. The wooden door counts as the main door; the mesh door is only a protection door.

If the main door and boundary gate face each other but fall on different pads, is it still good?

Yes, if the offset is within one pad (11.25 degrees). For example, a gate on N4 with a main door spread over N4 and N5, mostly in N4, or a main door on N4 with the gate on the N4-N5 junction, still counts as utsang (sammukh) dwar.

In a flat, if the stairs are in the anti-clockwise direction of the house, is it a vedh?

It is a dosh, not a vedh. Stairs carry the geopathic currents from below up the building; a current moving clockwise grows while one moving anti-clockwise is lost, just as spinning clockwise and anti-clockwise feel very different.

Do these effects, such as insomnia, apply to room doors, and does only the owner suffer?

They apply to the main door of the house, not to room doors. The people in whose name the house is and who invested in it feel the effects most, but other members can be affected too.

What if the door aay calculation does not come out in whole numbers?

Convert the inches into points, for example by multiplying by 10, and then calculate the remainder.

Is the chaukhat (frame) included when calculating door aay?

No. Only the door itself is measured; the chaukhat and the upper and lower thresholds are not.

Can you repeat the door aay formula?

Multiply the length by the width and divide by 8; the remainder is the aay. For example, a door 36 inches wide and 72 inches (6 ft) high gives 36 x 72. Remember that even x even always gives an even remainder.

Can a nandavart dwar be made in a flat?
Do stairs matter when marking the ati marma points?

Stairs play no role in the marking itself; the points are found from the plot and the devtas wherever the stairs are. But no staircase, no column and ideally not even a wall should stand on an ati marma. These points should be left empty.

Are marma and ati marma applicable in flat vastu?

Yes. The ati marma of a flat should also be found and kept free, just as in a house or plot.

How do we find the centre of a plot that is irregular or stretched on one side, since the demonstration used a regular plot?

Finding the centre was covered in earlier classes. Either use software such as AutoCAD, or use the hanging method: cut out the shape, hang it from one point and mark the vertical line, then hang it from another point and mark again; the crossing is the centre. Joining diagonals gives the centre only for a regular plot.

Is there any length to width criterion for the centre, for example in a 250 x 50 feet plot?

There is no criterion for finding the centre; the centre is always the centre. The proportion matters for the plot itself: up to 1:1.5 is good (30 x 45 feet is ideal), up to 1:2 (30 x 60) is neither good nor bad, and longer than that is not good, with more loss the longer it gets. In such long plots many devtas fall outside or get cut, and they need treatment.

Is there any AutoCAD software for marking the marma points?

No special software is needed. Draw the chakra and devta lines once in AutoCAD as short reference lines; for every new map just align them and join the lines, which takes about a minute.

Does everything taught today also apply to an apartment or flat, or only to a kothi?

Everything taught today applies to flats as well, except bhoomi vibhajan. In a flat it is already done: the space left around the building during construction is its Pishach bhoomi. Ati marma, zoning and directions all apply inside the flat.

Should the zoning, devtas and marma be done on the constructed area or on the whole plot?

It depends on the house. When a lot of land around the building lies unused, take only the constructed area and zone it separately. For a normal plot of about 2000 sq ft with just a parking and a small front garden, take the whole plot, and mark the devtas and marma on the whole as well. Small houses of 1200 to 2100 sq ft are taken whole, parking included.

In a flat, if part of the shape is cut by the stairs or lift, how is that part treated?

The flat is the part you actually enter and use. Once inside, your movement and work happen only in that area, so the part you cannot access, taken by the stairs, lift or the neighbouring flat, is a cut in your flat.

If bhoomi vibhajan is not done in a flat, is devta marking still done, given that the 32 devtas lie in the Pishach bhoomi?

Yes. Devta marking is done in a flat exactly as usual, also to judge the main door location. What does not apply is the rule of leaving the Pishach bhoomi empty: inside a flat the corners and side spaces can be used.
